DU Classes - Fall 2017

September 6th - December 6th, 2017

Are you interested in growing deeper, developing your leadership skills, and learning more about what it means to be a fully-devoted follower of Christ? Discipleship groups are for you. Each semester we offer multiple classes designed with you in mind. Here is a list of class for the 2017 Fall Semester. When you register, please indicate which class you plan to attend.

NO CLASSES ON WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 22nd

The Meaning of Marriage Room 701-702 6 weeks: Sept 6 - Oct 11 Cost: $10 We will continue our focus from our Sunday morning sermons by studying The Meaning of Marriage—a six-session video-based Bible study by Timothy Keller. This class is for anyone who desires to dive deeper in the the Biblical purpose of marriage. It will also be a place to encourage each other and provide help and hope for those who need it.

PLACE - Page Cole
Room 708 6 weeks: Sept 6 - Oct 11; Oct 18 - Nov 15
Cost: $10 Through the PLACE process, participants discover that God created them with unique personality, spiritual gifts, abilities, passions, and experiences. Discovering God's purpose and plan for their lives helps members find their PLACE of service within the body of Christ.

Foundations – Rick Cuccio
Room 703 13 weeks: Sept 6 - Dec 6 (No Class on Nov 22) Cost: $10 Have you ever had the thought, “I’m a Christian, now what?” Whether you are a new believer or just need encouragement for the next stage of your walk with Christ, this class is for you!

Bible Prophecy 301 - Ted Naman
Room 818 11 weeks: Sept 20 - Dec 6 (No Class on Nov 22) We resume our study of Biblical events of the last days. This semester, we will look at the rapture of the church, the judgement seat, the great white throne, second coming of Christ and the promised rewards in heaven for those who are believers. No prior class requirement. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Lay Counseling Training - Cathy Breese
Room 707 8 weeks: Sept 20 - Nov 8 First Baptist Owasso provides specific training to equip church members to serve as a lay counselor in our Counseling Ministry. If you are interested in serving in this ministry, this class is how you get started. New and current lay counselors are encouraged to attend.

Live Again – Susan Helm Room 515 8 weeks: Sept 6 - Oct 25 Cost: $10 Most women who have experienced divorce struggle with doubt, anxiety, and the fear that life is over. This class will help bring hope and healing as you navigate the road to wholeness.

Divorce Care - Rex and Vickie Porter
Room 817 13 weeks: Sept 6 - Dec 6 (No Class on Nov 22) Cost: $10 For people who have experienced the deep hurt of separation and divorce. Led by people who have been through divorce and can help you experience real hope for your future.

Mid-Week Prayer Meeting
Room 700 Every Wednesday (Ongoing) Each week, this group gathers to study God’s Word and pray for those in need.

OTHER OPPORTUNITIES DURING THE WEEK

TUESDAY NIGHTS - 6:00-7:30pm

Grief Share - John Belcher
Room 700 13 weeks: Sept 5 - Dec 5 Cost: $10 Grief Share is a 13-week special support group for people grieving the loss of a spouse, child, family member or friend. It is led by people who understand what you are experiencing and who have a desire to offer you comfort and encouragement during this difficult time. Each session includes a video seminar with top experts on grief recovery and group discussion.

THURSDAY NIGHTS - 6:00-7:30pm

Women in Crisis - Cathy Breese
Room 713 10 weeks: Sept 21 - Nov 30 (No class on Nov 22) This ministry is for ladies who want to get help from past experiences such as abortion, rape, incest, drug addiction, or other issues, but have not found a comfortable place to share their pain. This is a chance for a small group of women who share similar issues to walk through healing and find hope for their future.

SPECIAL ONE NIGHT CLASS - "SURVIVING THE HOLIDAYS"

For those experiencing a loss due to death or divorce, November and December can be very painful months. We will be offering a seminar called Surviving the Holidays on Wed, Oct 25 from 6-7:30pm in room 817 and Wed, Nov 8th from 6-7:30pm in room 709.

This seminar will help you learn - How to deal with the many emotions you’ll face during the holidays - Helpful tips for surviving social events - Ways to give your kids a good holiday experience - How to discover hope for your future

This is a casual dinner set aside for those who are interested in learning more about First Baptist Owasso. Our Senior Pastor, Chris Wall, will share his personal story and his vision for our church. You will have the opportunity to ask questions and get to know other staff members who can help you discover your next step in getting involved in the life of our church family.

This is the first step in becoming a member of First Baptist Owasso.

SPACE IS VERY LIMITED - Only a deposit will reserve your spot. It is best to come to the office and pay by check in order to avoid paying the higher cost due to credit/debit card fees.

  • Round trip flights from Tulsa, OK

  • Land transportation via deluxe air conditioned motor coach

  • Accommodations in superior tourist class hotels

  • Meals: breakfast and dinner daily

  • Services of a professional English speaking tour guide throughout the tour

  • Admission to all activities listed in the itinerary

  • Luggage Handling: one piece per person at hotels

  • Taxes and tips for services of guide and driver

  • Gratuity at dinner meals each night

PRICE DOES NOT INCLUDE:

  • Meals not indicated on itinerary (lunches)

  • Items of a personal nature such as passport or visa fees (passport must be valid for 6 months beyond return dates)

  • Optional insurance for health, cancelation and baggage


PAYMENT SCHEDULE

A non refundable deposit of $500 per person is due with registration. Then, the following payment schedule will apply;

  • To register and reserve a spot - $500 non-refundable deposit

  • December 1, 2017 - $1,000

  • February 1, 2018 - $1,000

  • May 1, 2018 - $1200 (final payment)

Space is limited, therefore early registration is encouraged. In the event that a vendor imposes a surcharge for things such as fuel, tax, security or currency fluctuations, you will be notified via an additional invoice for the surcharge amount.

REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY

All cancellations must be in writing. Refunds (excluding the non-refundable deposit) are based on the number of days prior to departure.
